What is the meaning of Vocaloids?

What is Vocaloid written in Japanese [ボーカロイド, bookaroido] is a computer program released in 2004, in which you write syllables and choose the pitch of the voice, to compose your song. It should be a simple voice program, but thanks to marketing, it has created a phenomenon that is very popular with young people and adults all over the world.

Vocaloid is a 2d character created as the persona of a voicebank software from a company called Crypton. Each type of vocaloid can produce different robotic sounds and each has its own characteristics.

Development of the VOCALOID began in March 2000 by Yamaha and was unveiled in 2003. The first VOCALOID, Leon and Lola, was released by Studio Zero-G on March 3, 2004.

This vocaloid is actually very diverse, there are many other vocaloid personas with different voice characters.

Vocaloid is currently going through its fifth version with a new sound bank every year. With this program, you can also import MIDI which automatically makes each beat of a song look as if it were on a piano. Then you can add lyrics and turn any known song into a Vocaloid sung version.

What is a Voicebank?

The voicebank itself is a robotic voice that can be programmed to sing along to a tune. Because not all music producers will immediately have a vocalist to fill the void in their arrangement, they use this vocaloid for their music production needs. However, from there emerged a new culture for vocaloid music, because it turns out that fans for the robotic voice of the vocaloids themselves are seen as quite lively and enthusiastic.

Sound packs synthesized for word formation are constantly being released, followed by songs. Like everything else in Japan, the Japanese made covers with characters to represent the sound of the show. One of the most famous sound packs is Hatsune Miku.

Hatsune Miku

Hatsune miku is a form of "voicebank vocaloid" developed by a media company called crypton future media. This software is used by users to create songs, and Miku's own voice is taken from the voice sample of the voice actor, Fujita Saki.

Because of her immense popularity, people finally recognize Miku as a virtual idol [not a vtuber] because of the songs she has sung.

Not only that, because of Miku's popularity, we often find him as a cameo in several anime and games such as Hyouka, Lucky Star, Persona 4, and Jashin-chan season 3 today.

Thanks to Hatsune Miku and a Japanese video site called Nico Nico Douga the songs synthesized in this program along with fan-made animations popularized the characters representing the covers of each voice in the program.

FULL LIST OF VOCALOID CHARACTERS

This is a complete list of vocaloid characters. Unfortunately it may not have any unofficial or very new vocaloids, but I'm sure all the vocaloid characters are on this list. You can then do a search for your name using [CTRL+F] and find out if the character you are looking for is in that list.

Good thing I'll also leave the Japanese name characters in brackets, note that sometimes the writing changes to first surname and then name. Hope you enjoy the vocaloid character roster!
